The Vision
Mississauga is one of Canada's great cities. It deserves professional soccer. Here is why Mississauga City FC is the right club, at the right time.
The City
With a population of 721,599, Mississauga is the sixth-largest city in Canada and the third-largest in Ontario. It is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world — a city whose residents have deep roots in the soccer-loving nations of Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
This is a city with an enormous, passionate, and underserved soccer audience. Mississauga has long played second fiddle to Toronto in professional sports. Mississauga City FC changes that.
Located in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area, the club will draw from one of the most concentrated and affluent urban catchment areas in Canada — with outstanding transit links and a young, sport-hungry demographic.

The Sport
Soccer is the fastest-growing sport in Canada by participation and viewership, outpacing hockey in registrations among youth for the first time in Canadian history.
MLS teams average 19,925 fans per game — ranking higher per-game than the NHL, CFL, and NBA. Professional soccer in Canada draws crowds and holds audiences.
With the FIFA World Cup 2026 hosted across North America, Canada — and the Greater Toronto Area in particular — is at the epicentre of global soccer attention. There has never been a better time to launch a professional club.
The Club
Mississauga City FC is being founded as the Canadian Premier League's next expansion franchise. The CPL is Canada's top-flight professional soccer league, providing broadcast rights, a national competitive platform, and a proven commercial framework for member clubs.
MCFC will be rooted in the Mississauga community from day one — recruiting local talent, engaging schools and youth clubs, and building a fanbase that reflects the incredible diversity of the city it represents.
Our stadium model follows the Halifax Wanderers' approach: a 10,000-seat temporary stadium on leased municipal or institutional land, keeping capital requirements lean while delivering a world-class matchday experience.
Roadmap
Mississauga City FC is structured around clear, achievable milestones that create value and de-risk the investment at each stage.
